Some of the state’s best juniors took part in the Royal Perth Junior Open on Friday 9 April.
Played as an 18 hole stroke (gross) event, there was some great golf played on the tight and challenging Royal Perth layout.
Amie Phobubpa (Joondalup) created history by winning the Girls section of the event for the third consecutive year in a row. After being square with the card through the front nine, she came home with a flurry, recording five birdies and two bogeys on her way to a 3 under 71. Her consecutive victories (2019, 20, 21) are now equal best with the 2019 Women’s PGA Championship winner Hannah Green, who won the event between 2011-13.
Meanwhile in the Boys section, Aldrich Potgieter (Joondalup) carded four birdies and an eagle on the 7th hole on his way to a 2 under 70 to win the title.
Notable results from Royal Perth members include Isabella Leniartek (Runner Up Nett) and Dannielle Soe (Third Place Nett).
